Standardizing Pay Practices
Pay Practices are the foundation upon which all pay rules exist. Our clients realize that over time the "real life" of such policies changes. Differences in interpretation, vagueness of language, or, most commonly, "creative engineering" by managers are typically the genesis of such variances. Senior management typically views these situations as an undesirable liability. One such client, on their own, attempted to streamline pay practices for several hundred facilities over a period of seven years yet never ratified a standard set of practices.
Solution
Our client committed to standardize pay practices within business lines. Through our leadership, experiences and proven methodology we helped our client:
- Understand the situation
- Develop parameters and a detailed plan for addressing the problem
- Streamline pay practices
- Communicate and manage the change for all employees
Results
The new pay practices were created, analyzed, and approved 90 days after we were engaged. The employees accepted the pay practices as was evidenced over the following three years when only one change was made to resultant set of practices.
